Guide

A video guestbook replaces the wedding signing table with a camera. Guests record a short message, and the couple receives every message as a video. Here is how it works and what separates a quality service from a novelty.

How a video guestbook works

A booth is set up at the venue with a camera, a screen and, with Memory Mic, a microphone. A guest sees themselves on screen, taps record and speaks, for as long and as often as they like. Recordings save automatically. After the event, the couple receives a private online gallery where every message is its own video.

There is nothing to write, pose for or operate, so it is used by guests who would pass a paper book.

What you receive

A collection of short videos, each one a guest speaking to you: toasts, advice, shared stories. Often the most memorable come from guests who would never speak in front of a room but will speak openly to a camera.

What to look for

Sound. Reception rooms are loud, and a camera alone records the band. A video guestbook with a professional microphone records the guest. Ask every vendor how they capture audio.

Delivery. You want each message as a separate, downloadable video, not a single branded reel. Ask how videos are delivered and how long they remain online.

Setup. A booth delivered, set up and packed down by the vendor is one less task on the day. A self-assembled kit is not.

Video guestbook vs photo booth

A photo booth gives guests a keepsake. A video guestbook gives you one: what your guests wanted to say. Many couples book both. If you are choosing one, decide whose keepsake matters more.
